Geek Valentines

I am not a huge fan of Valentines Day, but since the rest of the country insists on indulging in this ridiculous holiday, I thought I would post some geeky valentines, for your enjoyment. :) This way, if you are going to send something to the geek in your life, you have some good selection to choose from. Star Trek Girl

This just amused me. First of all, she is pretty cute, if not a bit spastic. Besides that, who doesn't love a good geek-centric dance song? Well, even if you don't like the song, you can take comfort in the fact that she is probably dead by now. Damn red shirts! Enjoy! :)

This was apparently created on a budget of $300, which is very surprising, considering the fact that the special effects aren't all that awful. Besides that, it is pretty freaking hilarious. Anything that incorporates superheroes, ninjas, a giant insect-robot, and a nerf-gun bong is okay in my book. Enjoy!

As geeks, we already know that we are a little bit more awesome than everyone else. So, why should we have to eat the same boring food items as the masses? We shouldn't. So here are some examples of geek-centric food for you.

5 Good reasons for geeks to have kids

Up until this time, I will admit I have been kind of torn on the whole having children issue. I mean, kids are cool and all, but so is being able to do whatever I want, whenever I want. The internal debate just ended for me when I saw these though. Motherhood it is! :)

 

Seriously, how freaking cute are those? Yeah, I know, I shouldn't force my insane geekiness onto my future innocent children, but fortunately I have no conscience, so yay! :)

Robot-Dinosaur Home Alarm? Yes, Please!

A $19,000 robotic triceratops that patrols your house taking pictures of would-be burglars. What could be better? Ever since 'The Land Before Time', triceratops has been my favorite dinosaur, and now I can have one... as soon as I have $19,000. According to reports:

"The Banryu bots were designed to patrol homes and photograph and would-be intruders using a camera installed in their snouts, but their plodding pace (3 meters a minute) made them questionably useful. TMSUK later created a zippier, 15-meter-per-minute Banryu model (that could also detect carbon monoxide leaks), but sadly the whole "cybernetic dinosaur home security" trend never really took off."

 I just don't know if I want to live in a society that does not appreciate Robotic danger-sensing dinosaurs. 

Geek Culture+Cake=HEAVEN

I have had a pretty lazy sunday, comprised mostly of 'Dr. Who' episodes and Taco Bell. So in lieu of actually writing something, I though...Seriously, who doesn't like cake? So here you go, Firefly, Stargate, and Buffy in Cake Form!

The force is strong with this one

Okay, I obviously love Star Wars as much as any other geek, but some people are taking the whole fan thing to a whole new level. I mean, we have all heard of Star Wars cosplay, Star Wars themed weddings, etc. but now it has apparently become a valid lifestyle choice, even extending to fashion. So, here ya go: 

                   

I know exactly what you are thinking "These ARE the droids you are looking for", right? Yeah, well now that I think about it, the only one that might be a little overkill is the star wars full-back tattoo. I would actually wear those shoes, and I mean really, who wouldn't want a droid swimsuit? What can I say, I have been forcing the s/o to watch the trilogy with me (she had never seen it, gasp!), so I am feeling very Jedi-centric at the moment. Mock me if you want, but I might just have to throw you into the sarlacc pit.

Day 3- A picture of the cast from your favorite show

So, call me a geek all you want, Buffy is the best show ever to be on television. Joss Whedon is pretty much my hero, and I will never really understand why the networks can't see the genius, but whatev. That's why god invented tv on dvd, right? :) Okay, so while Buffy is my favorite show of all time, there are a few others that are close competitors. Angel, Chuck, Battlestar Galactica, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Eureka, and Criminal Minds are all shows that I consider to be brilliant beyond belief. So maybe I am a little bit of a geek, I can handle that. If any of you naysayers out there are judging me on this choice, thinking perhaps that Buffy is a silly show about teenagers fighting mythical creatures, I will remind you that Buffy started the whole mainstream-vampire thing. Yes, I know Bram Stoker and Anne Rice wrote about vampires before 1997, but Buffy is responsible for the vampire pop culture craze. So before you judge, just think, without Whedon's vision, you wouldn't have your True blood obsession, there would be no Team Edward/Team Jacob feud, and cinematic masterpieces (I jest) like Vampire Diaries might have never been on the air. :)
